Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases

 

Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases is a government postgraduate educational institution and hospital. It is located in Faujdarhat area. It started its journey in 2013. There is a 20-bed infectious disease hospital here. It is the only hospital for tropical and infectious diseases outside Dhaka.





History 





The government of Bangladesh established this hospital in 2013 for the treatment of tropical and infectious diseases. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated it.









Treatment





Nobel Corona virus  





In March 2020, the corona virus spread to Bangladesh. As the first hospital in Chittagong, 50 beds were made in BITID for corona patients. Although the intensive care unit has not yet been set up at this hospital. Corona detection kits were later sent to the hospital and corona detection tests began. On April 3, 2020, the first 6-year-old corona patient was caught in BITID. He was kept in isolation at Chittagong General Hospital.  Then on 5 April 2020, a second corona patient was identified in Chittagong. He is the son of the first victim.
