Bangladesh Civil Service Administration Academy is a government educational institution under the Ministry of Public Administration of the Government of Bangladesh which provides training to the officers of the Administration and Judiciary.

History 





The Bangladesh Civil Service Administration Academy started its operations on 21 October 1986 as a joint department under the Ministry of Public Administration. The academy was known as the Gazetted Officers Training Academy (GOTA) until its transformation into the Civil Officers Training Academy (COTA) in 1986. Both the Civil Officers Training Academy and the Gazetted Officers Training Academy were run as training centers for all cadre officers of the Bangladesh Civil Service. For some time after its establishment, the academy was only engaged in training newly recruited and mid-level officers of the Bangladesh Civil Service Administration cadre. Later the academy, Prior to the establishment of a separate Foreign Service Academy in 1996, Bangladesh Civil Service was responsible for training Foreign Affairs cadre officers. Initially this academy started its activities with 4 faculty members. At present the number of faculty members and support staff is 120. The academy first started its journey through a three-month law and administration course from 21 October 1986 to 30 January 1986. 56 officers of Bangladesh Civil Service Administration Cadre participated in the course.





Additional Secretary to the Government Mr. A.Z. M. Shamsul Alam served as the first Director General of the Bangladesh Civil Service Administration Academy. The post of Director General has been changed to Rector on 31st March, 2013.
