Jurisdiction

According to the provisions of the Constitution, the Supreme Court of Bangladesh has two divisions - the Appellate Division and the High Court Division .

Article 101 of the Constitution defines the jurisdiction of the High Court. Section 103 describes the jurisdiction of the Appellate Division.

The High Court Division hears appeals from lower courts and tribunals. In addition, writ petitions under Article 102 of the Constitution of Bangladesh, and the Company and the Army have core jurisdiction in certain limited cases as matters. The Appellate Division has jurisdiction to hear appeals from the High Court Division. The Supreme Court can rule against the government in cases that are independent of the executive branch and politically controversial.

Criticism

Despite the fact that Bengali is the only state language under the Constitution of Bangladesh and in violation of the Bengali Language Act, 197 , the Supreme Court's judgment is still criticized in English as it was during the British colonial rule.  The Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina has called for the judgment of the Supreme Court to be written in Bengali, saying, "The judgment should be written in the language we all understand. And you can write the verdict in Bengali and translate it into English. ”  Former Chief Justice of Bangladesh Muhammad Habibur Rahman wrote, "If justice is a virtue and if it works for the welfare of the people, then it should be in the language of the people."However, "I say openly that if the people of the country want all the work of the Supreme Court of their country to be in their language, the judges will not want to voluntarily hand over Bengal until their representatives pass the law in Parliament."

Controversial Events

Prior to his appointment as Justice, Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice SM Emdadul Haque were central members (Rukn) of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami . [ Citation needed ]

On 16 February 2013, Justice Md. On behalf of Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan, his son-in-law Siddiqur Rahman Hawladar went to the judges' chambers of the High Court and came in a Supreme Court envelope with a report calling blogger Rajib Haider an apostate . Indonesia-Bangladesh relations

Bangladesh-Indonesia relations refers to the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Indonesia. Indonesia is the largest Muslim country in the world, while Bangladesh is the third largest Muslim country in the world. The two countries are members of the United Nations and many other multinational organizations, most notably the United Nations International Peacekeeping Committee, the six developing countries, the Non-Aligned Movement, the World Trade Organization and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Bangladesh has embassies in Jakarta and Indonesia has embassies in Dhaka. After Indonesia recognized Bangladesh as one of the Muslim countries in the world, diplomatic relations were formally established between Bangladesh and Indonesia in 1972.

  History

After secession from Pakistan, in 1971, along with non-Arab Muslim countries like Malaysia, Turkey and Afghanistan, Indonesia immediately recognized Bangladesh. Immediately after the independence of 1971, Bangladesh later established diplomatic relations with Indonesia and the activities of both embassies started from May 1972.

Bangladesh-Ireland relations refers to the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Ireland . Both Bangladesh and Ireland were part of the British Empire , but Bangladesh is a Commonwealth Republic , with the Republic of Ireland becoming a republic outside the Commonwealth of Nations on 16 April 1999 , subject to the 1948 Act .

Economic Relations

Bangladesh and Ireland have shown mutual interest in expanding bilateral economic activities between the two countries and both countries have taken necessary steps to expand existing trade and investment. Many Irish companies have expressed interest in investing in Bangladesh in the promising sector.

In 2009, an Irish trade delegation led by former Irish Minister for Investment and Coordination Conor Lenihan visited Bangladesh to explore possible ways to increase bilateral trade and investment. Ireland has shown interest in recruiting skilled IT professionals from Bangladesh.

Migrants

There are small groups of Bangladeshi immigrants in Ireland. In 2014, 99 Bangladeshis applied for asylum in Ireland, and in 2015 the number rose to 231. Some Bangladeshis are illegal immigrants. Bangladesh-origin Maksuda Akhter won the Mrs. Ireland Beauty Pageant 2014.

Diplomatic relations

Ireland and Bangladesh do not have resident ambassadors to each other's countries. The Irish Ambassador to India is also cross-recognized in Bangladesh. The High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the United Kingdom is also recognized as the Ambassador to Ireland.
