International cooperation in the field
Bangladesh and Venezuela have been cooperating with each other for a long time in various global sectors. Venezuela sought Bangladesh's cooperation in gaining temporary membership in the 2008 UN Security Council elections . Bangladesh has said it will take appropriate steps in this regard. In 2014, Venezuela pledged its support for Bangladesh's membership in the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women .
Inspired by Bangladesh's success in the areas of primary education, women's education, women's empowerment, children and maternal health, Venezuela is trying to imitate Bangladesh and develop its social indicators. The Venezuelan government is trying to alleviate poverty by implementing Bangladesh-based Grameen Bank's microfinance project.
Both countries have expressed interest in further strengthening bilateral ties. The two countries are interested in boosting bilateral trade and investment through trade exchanges between the two countries. The energy sector is being given great importance to increase economic cooperation between Bangladesh and Venezuela. Bangladesh is also seeking direct investment from Venezuela.
