China-India Conflict Summary

Since May 5, 2020, Chinese and Indian troops have reportedly engaged in lethal face-to-face fighting and clashes at multiple locations along the Sino-Indian border. In late May, Chinese forces objected to the construction of Indian roads within Indian territory in the Galoyan River Valley .  in the clashes on 15/16 June 2020 20 Indian soldiers (including one officer) were killed  .  Multiple newspapers reported that 10 Indian soldiers, including four officers, were taken prisoner and later released by the Chinese army on 16 June . 

During the conflict, India deployed an additional 12,000 additional personnel to the region to assist in the development of Indian infrastructure.

The clashes took place near Pangong Lake in Ladakh and Nathu La Pass in Sikkim. Also, the armies of the two countries are facing each other at several places in East Ladakh along the Line of Actual Control formed from the Sino-Indian war of 1962 .

However, both India and China agree that there are adequate bilateral measures to resolve the situation through peaceful diplomacy
